In 1983, the bmw motorsports division developed a high performance variant of the e24 series, known as the m635sci, for the european market. In 1987, after much demand and waiting from the north american market, bmw offered the m6. The bmw motorsports developed twin-cam, 24-valve inline-six-cylinder engines powered the car. Known as the codes m88 or s38, both were derived from the engine used in the legendary bmw m1 sports car. Larger front air dam, a rear spoiler, bbs wheels, color matching side view mirrors, m badges on the grille and back, and slightly larger front brakes distinguish the m6 from other e24 models. Market, the bmw m6 production ran from 1987 to 1989, with a total of 1,632 built. The car: this m6 is a great example of originality, beauty and pride of ownership, owing to a bmw enthusiast's care and attention. Mechanicals: the factory m power 3. 5l (s38) 256 hp (sae) engine is an evolutions of the 24-valve inline-six developed for bmw's mid-engine m1 supercar. The transmission is a smooth shifting manual 5-speed. Mechanically in excellent condition, with a well documented service history. The suspension has recently been updated and upgraded. A few years ago exhaust system was also upgraded. A deep and lustrous paint finish that is ready for show. Very few and very minor chips or scuff marks on the front spoiler of the car. 9 out of 10. The glass is in great condition. Alpina 17 inch wheels with bridgestone tires. Interior: the silver gray leather is in excellent condition. Extremely clean with very little wear and aging. The dash has no cracks or fading. All switches and power controls work. Factory blaupunkt sound system. Alpina steering wheel. A great 9 out of 10 interior. Driving: the driving experience of this m6 is a joy. Undeniable bmw classic 80s european luxury feel with autobahn performance.
